Use “Fun with Flags” to Assess a Friendship

If you feel drained after spending time with someone, that’s a red flag!  –Doreen Virtue

If you are questioning a friendship – maybe it is new and you are uncertain, or a longer-term friendship that seems to be fading, use the flags. Ask yourself the same sort of questions as you did on the checklist. If it is a friendship with a long history, do some reflection on your past times together. Have you been letting some things go out of habit or loyalty? Or have you not realized the good they have been contributing?  Plant green, yellow and red flags accordingly. Step back and assess the results, then decide what to do.
