Definition of good neighbor: someone to be trusted; a courteous, friendly source of help when help is needed; someone you can count on; someone who cares. –Edward B. Rust Jr.
Being a reliable, contributing or (at least non annoying) member of a community or neighborhood is another essential element of healthy relationships with other people. We can do simple things such as clean up our dog’s poop, offer to share a walk, make soup, or even something more ambitious as starting a community garden. Maybe you bring refreshments to the neighborhood gathering, help build a stage for the town park, or organize a group outing or shopping trip. If you are putting yourself and your efforts out there in a way that benefits, and does not detract from your community, you are helping to create a better world and help yourself in the process. It’s that simple.
