To paraphrase former President Kennedy “Ask not what your community can do for you, but what you can do for your community.” Know where and how to find your “people”, your “tribe”, your “fit”. Where do you feel the most comfortable? Initiate connections with other like-minded souls. Find them in community centers, a meet-up, clubs, classes, conferences. If you are single, it is a great way to meet other singles in real life. One couple I know met at a gathering for tall people. Chat with other dog owners at the dog park. Volunteer. If you are an introvert, choose situations where you are involved, but with less interaction. Learn the art of conversation by asking simple questions such as: “What brought you here today?” “What do you do for enjoyment?” In this simple way, you are contributing to the betterment of society and yourself
