Self reflection takes courage. It’s tough, and it’s important. It keeps us from being a victim. We may discover we have more power and choice in determining the direction of a particular relationship than we thought. We realize we may not want to put in the effort to make it reciprocal. Or maybe we have been less than reliable in our commitments. We may have to admit that we are not tolerant and respectful of others as we thought. Ask the tough questions: In this relationship, am I reciprocal? Am I reliable? Am I respectful? Awareness of our desires and limitations makes it easier to choose a direction or solution.
