The only way to truly know someone is by being with them, by conversation. ― Eric Overby
One way to foster a sense of community and improve well-being is to gather three to five willing participants in a quiet place for the purpose of having deeper, more meaningful conversations. Think of it as a book club for connecting and this same book is used every time. Ask participants to choose something from the book that resonates – a quote, a chapter, a topic that they feel comfortable discussing. (This avoids digressing into complaint sessions.) Encourage participants to be a bit vulnerable and express from their heart. (See appendix). Each person talks for a minute or so while the others simply listen. Ask the speaker to solicit feedback if they wish, if not, let the others know they just wanted to feel heard. Encourage others to take a turn. Meet regularly – say monthly and see how much more deeply connected you feel after a few meetings.
